THE
APOSTOLIC ATTITUDE / author unknown I'm
a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Ghost power. The dye
has been cast, I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm
a disciple of HIS. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away or be
still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure.
I'm
finished with low-living, sight-walking, small planning, smooth knees,
colorless dreams, tamed vision, chintzy giving and dwarfed goals.
I no
longer need prosperity, position, promotion or popularity. I don't have to
be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live
by present tense, by faith, walk by patience, lift by prayer and labor by
power.
My
face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven. My road is narrow, my way
is rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission clear.
I
cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded,
deceived or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in
the presence of my enemy, negotiate at the table of the adversary, ponder at
the pool of popularity or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I
won't give-up, let-up or shut up until I have stayed-up, stored-up,
prayed-up, paid-up and preached-up for the cause of Christ.
I am
a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go 'til He comes, give 'til I drop,
preach 'til all know and work 'til He stops me. And, when He comes for His
own, He will not have any problem recognizing me because I will not be
discouraged and I refuse to quit.
STATEMENT OF FAITH:
Reflect most of
the beliefs of the
Holiness-Pentecostal movement, with the exception of the "second work of
grace," the historic doctrine of the Trinity, and the traditional
Trinitarian formula in water baptism. It embraces the Pentecostal view that
speaking in tongues is the initial sign of receiving the Holy Spirit.
WE BELIEVE "The
Bible is the only God-given authority which man possesses; therefore all
doctrine, faith, hope, and all instructions for the church must be based
upon and harmonize with the Bible" (Manual of the United Pentecostal Church,
19). The Bible is the Word of God, and therefore inerrant and infallible. WE rejects all extrabiblical
revelations and writings, and views church creeds and articles of faith only
as the thinking of men.
that
salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by works. Faith in
Jesus is the means by which a person is justified. At the same time, a
sinner must believe the gospel; he is commanded to repent of his sinful
life, to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ, and to receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; 4:12; 8:12-17; 10:43-48; 19:1-6).
Thus the various aspects of faith and obedience work together in God's grace
to reconcile us to God.
In distinction to the
doctrine of the Trinity, holds to a oneness view of God. It views
the Trinitarian concept of God, that of God eternally existing as three
distinctive persons, as inadequate and a departure from the consistent and
emphatic biblical revelation of God being one.
That
the one God who revealed Himself in the Old Testament as Jehovah revealed
himself in His Son, Jesus Christ. Thus Jesus Christ was and is God. In other
words, Jesus is the one true God manifested in flesh, for in Him dwells all
the fullness of the Godhead bodily (John 1:1-14; I Timothy 3:16; Colossians
2:9).
While fully God, Jesus
was also fully man, possessing a full and true humanity. He was both God and
man. Moreover, the Holy Spirit is God with us and in us. Thus God is
manifested as Father in creation and as the Father of the Son, in the Son
for our redemption, and as the Holy Spirit in our regeneration.
